Off the shelf ducting solutions are convenient but don’t always fit the criteria.
Through our restructured technical partner set-up, we have learned over the last year that custom designed ducting products are increasingly called for in our dynamic industrial environment.
In all types of applications ranging from high output quarries and cement works, factories and cutting and grinding plants right down to the most hygienic food processing plants, specialised solutions are paramount for maximising economics and production.
Safety assurance is now as prominent as product performance, so most industries are calling for specific designs that custom suit application.
Not too long ago, project managers were satisfied to have fitouts engineered from off-the-shelf product.
Perhaps this was just the conventional approach and nobody thought much about going beyond that.
But from our point of view – particularly since we restructured our technical partner system last year - we learned that most industries believe it is of greater benefit to be able to engineer custom solutions, so we moved a lot of our planning into that direction.
So in the last 12 months, we have been custom building ducting solutions across the industries – both in the metal version of our product range as well as the Flex items.
A recent project through a technical partner called for a custom built 3mm wall ducting, fully flanged, for a high output application in a cement works plant.
The customer was putting in a new dust collector and needed this product to be application specific.
It needed a mid-heavyweight product because the only real off-the-shelf solutions available were lightweight or superheavy duty.
Another customised solution using Eximo technology was in a job for an aluminium smelter which required 2mm hot dipped galvanised fully-flanged product.
Currently, the company is customising a solution at another aluminium smelter. This site requires all its ducting to be 1mm 304 stainless-steel custom-built ducting.
The market has made the message very clear and we have changed our approach accordingly.
Project managers won’t just accept what's on the shelf. They expect us to do virtually anything very quickly, and for the most economic price.
